We did the camel ride which was a lot of fun for the kids and adults. Abdul was really knowledgeable and he explained a lot of the history of Tangier and together with Said showed us around the Medina and the city. Even the shopping at the Bereber Pharmacy was a great experience with the most amazing salesman ever who knew all about every natural remedy. When we were... read more ready to move on, Said placed a quick call to our driver and he was there to pick us up in minutes. We would walk through the markets and if Said saw a tray of freshly baked cookies, he’d buy us a couple. If we stopped to admire the gorgeous olives, he’d buy us a bag. I asked about the location of a liquor store, and while we were having lunch he slipped away and bought a bottle. It was like having an indulgent parent! Best part? He’s totally honest and responsive. I realized the next day that my credit card had slipped out of my pocket while were on the tour. He checked the van, found the card and returned it within 30 minutes. If you are a first time visitor to tangier, you need Said by your side.

He also provided us with a good sense of the history of Tangier and Morocco, and was very knowledgeable and able to answer all of our questions. We spent the entire day with Said, Abdul and the driver touring Tangiers stopping to see the various sections of the city; British, French, Dutch, and California. Yes, Tangiers has a section that looks like Beverly Hills and the houses to go with it!

Next we had an opportunity to ride some camels and then on to downtown Tangiers where we had lunch at a fantastic local restaurant. From there we went shopping in the Medina section inside the Kasbah. This is the old section of Tangiers where you can find exotic spices, perfumes, pottery, jewelry, etc. Said took us to places where he knew the prices and values were good.
I would like to give special thanks to Abdul who was providing the history of the city he loves. He added so much to our experience with his knowledge, whit, warmth and quick humor that made this trip so special. Said made sure everything was working perfectly, Abdul supplied the color commentary and the driver made the trip smooth and comfortable.
