Tangier Private Day Tour from Tarifa or Algeciras

Tangier is a city in Morocco located along the Mediterranean Sea. It is one of the most popular destinations in Africa for travelers from Europe and North America. The name 'Tangier' comes from the Greek word for 'Tinjis', a daughter of the titan Atlas, who was supposed to support the vault of heaven nearby. The city of Tangier is one of the oldest in Africa and a major port. It was founded by the Phoenicians in the 8th century B 12th century as a major trading post with Europe. During the 15th century, the city became an important stopping point for Spanish and Portuguese ships on their way to trade with Africa. After Tangier became a Spanish possession, it became one of their most important ports on the continent.

The city of Tangier is known for its architecture, especially its Kasbahs. A kasbah is an old fortified building that serves as a home for merchants who conducted business with European countries. Tangier is also famous for its seafood and poultry dishes, such as fish cooked in spices and chicken cooked in honey. Additionally, Tangier is known as a religious center; it is home to many mosques and churches that are decorated with beautiful mosaics and art work.

In approximately 7 hours, we will transport you all over this great city and will allow you to set the parameters as to where you would want to exit with me and you will have the ability to choose the parts of Tangier you would like to focus more or less. Or... you can leave the route and itinerary completely to us.

Itinerary:

The most beautiful places we have chosen for you to experience the very best of Tangier:

    • Along the Strait of Gibraltar our way leads towards Malabata and the new city. You will drive through Spanish Quarter down to Hercules Caves.
    • Atlantic Ocean to Mediterranean Sea
    • Camel ride on Achakar beach :

It has extensive sandy areas available for swimmers. This beach has the advantage of being very clean and pleasant to use.

    • Perdicaris Park:

Today, the "Place of the Nightingales" is better known as "Perdicaris Park". This 70-hectare park, once the playground of Perdicaris, is home to hundreds of eucalyptus trees from Australia, introduced in 1919, as well as Californian, Canary and coconut palms. And many surprises ;)

    • Cap Spartel lighthouse:

Stands at the lower part of a high cliff some eight miles away from Tangier city center.

    • Explore the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea meeting point.

    • King’s Palace

    • Great Mosque of Tangier

    • For a complete typical local experience we will offer you Moroccan mint tea or a fresh organic orange juice on the terrace with panoramic views :o
  • The Kasbah of Tangier :

is located in the upper part of the medina. So to visit the Kasbah you have to go to the medina, a small universe full of life, and then walk through the steep alleys to the oldest part. The former citadel is approximately from the 10th century and, in spite of the gradual transformations, still retains more than enough of its original features to take you back in time.

  • Museum of the Kasbah

  • Grand Hotel Villa de France

  • Grand Socco and Petite Socco

  • The American Legation

  • Saint Andrew’s English Church
